Clash For Cancer

The inaugural Clash For Cancer match was held in 2006. Essendon Football Club held a match to support their teammate, Adam Ramanauskas who had been diagnosed with cancer.  Essendon players wore yellow armbands as a public show of mateship and support to their teammate. More than $60,000 was raised at the match, which has now become an annual event.

Call To Arms

In response to public enthusiasm for the inaugural Clash For Cancer, The Cancer Council and Essendon Football Club launched Call To Arms in 2007.  Call To Arms provided community sporting clubs with the opportunity to support local men and raise funds for the fight against cancer. 

Local sporting communities embraced this unique event.  With 526 registered local sporting clubs, it was a huge success. Together, the clubs raised $88,000 for cancer research, education and support programs for men with cancer.  

2008 is the first opportunity for sporting clubs from other states to join in this great event. Anysporting club from across Australia can participate.
