Here are some ideas for you to consider when planing your event.
Club reps walk around the ground with a blanket and ask for coin donations from the crowd.
Ask people to pay to enter a competition to see who can handball or kick a goal the best from a certain distance.
Hold an auction. Auctioning off donated items such as sports memorabilia; experiences such as a prime parking space at work for a week, local art work, or a ride on someone's sailboat.
Throughout your next function hold a coin toss where people throw gold coins at a prize (make it fairly small so it's harder to hit) and the closest to the prize wins it.
Have a theme for the night, e.g.: 60s, 80s, school or even ‘letters'.
Be sponsored to shave or colour your hair or shave your beard off.
Remember to check the regulations for running a raffle with the Cancer Council before starting. Some raffle ideas include:
Have a swear jar in the clubroom. Every time someone swears they have to put a coin donation in the jar.
Hold a trivia night and get a quizmaster.
Ask your club's local sponsors to make a donation.
Provide an esky for catering, chairs and a blanket and then auction it/them off or sell at a premium price.
Teams play in memoriam of someone. Players ask friends/families etc for sponsorship to play in this person's name. Have a minute silence at the ground.
